As an experienced structural engineer and craftsman my expectations for yesterday’s Spencer Marston pool table installation were set high. The installers called before arrival to verify the appointment, arrived on time and performed the work tasks professionally and quickly. It was obvious that they take pride in their work and have a lot of experience.
The pool table itself uses top quality materials of solid wood and heavy duty steel bolts for connections of the structural components: legs, sides and internal frame system. The steel gusset plate connection between the legs and sides provides excellent structural integrity for the whole table that has to support the 750-pound slate table top. The installers shimmed the table and slate beautifully to a perfect level plane. The installation of the felt surface and bumpers was superb. Overall the installation process was educational, entertaining and obviously very successful. I can truthfully say, their work attitude, ethics and quality far exceeded my highest expectations. I could not be more pleased, this was easily a 5-star product and a 5-star plus installation.

The fountain was created to adorn the market square in the 1800s, but it actually takes its name from the Amenano river that used to run on the same spot. The river was buried in 1669 during a devastating Etna eruption.
One of my favorite things about the Catania fish market is not just the activity of the pescheria itself, but the crowd that it attracts. Really all this is doing is observing the people watchers who come to observe the bustle (and maybe decide what to purchase).

Decidedly more low key, there are butchers, cheesemongers and fruit and vegetable sellers to round out the offerings, but the star of the show remains the Catania fish market.

Opening Hours
The Catania fish market is open Monday through Saturday from about 7:30 am to around 12 pm, though some stalls begin to shut down before noon. The market is closed Sunday.
